Draping Raglan sleeve coat
A Raglan sleeve is joined with the bodice by the seam(raglan seam) that begins at the neck and has a slanting line from the neck to the armhole.
The key benefit of the Raglan sleeve lies in the enhanced room it provides in the arm area, offering a wider range of motion and superior comfort. This unique construction makes it a preferred choice for performance-oriented clothing.
The origin of the term "Raglan" can be traced back to Lord Raglan, a British military officer known for his role in the Battle of Waterloo. He lost his arm in the battle and famously wore garments featuring this distinctive sleeve design which was developed by John Emary, a tailor and businessman, the founder of Aquascutum - British heritage luxury fashion house.
Coat design with high raised collar and raglan sleeve was envisioned and designed/finalized directly on a dress form. Elena shows the draping of a raglan sleeve using her own unique method - without detachable arm. The size , the shape, the fit - all verified in a certain way and appropriation of specific “formula”.
In addition, Elena demonstrates how to develop raglan sleeve based on the achieved coat patterns by adjusting, re-draping the sleeve directly on the dress form and she offers 3 more versions of raglan sleeve design.
The course is especially advised for fashion students and professionals

Draping Basic set-in sleeve
Elena demonstrates the draping of basic set-in sleeve using her own unique method - without detachable arm. The size , the shape, the fit - all verified in a certain way and appropriation of specific “formula”. The sleeve is draped into a dress' armhole, so dress draping is also included in the course.
The second version of set-in sleeve with extra mobility for the arm is provided in two short videos, the dress project is modified into two-piece set - a formal crop jacket and high waist skirt. The sleeve looks identical to the "basic" but has a hidden part - a gusset which allows for arm movement
